nVidia Tegra & Opera to Speed Up Mobile Browsing |
|
September 30, 2008
NVidia And Opera team are working together to accelerate web browsing on mobile devices.
If you have a PDA phone you may notice browsing the web may not be as speedy as you would like. While mobile internet speeds are typically slower than cable and DSL, graphics play a big role in screen refreshes on your PDA. When tethering my phone to my laptop to browse the web, internet browsing is perfectly adequate (although faster would be appreciated). The nVidia team and Opera team are working together to speed up browsing on your smartphone. Any new developments for nVidia have to be good as the company is suffering from bad press about defective video chips and price fixing.
I’m using Opera 9.5 on my Windows Mobile phone and it is a huge improvement for browsing over the integrated Windows Internet Explorer. You can browse the entire web page, easily zoom in and center on the portion of the page you are interested in viewing. The intent of Opera is to bring javascript support, vector graphics and better video playback to your PDA phone.
