HTC Releasing Phone Soon to Beat the Diamond

September 11, 2008

Even though the HTC Diamond is scheduled for a US release on the 14th, a much better alternative is already being sHTC Releasing Phone Soon to Beat the Diamondhown on the web.

The HTC Touch HD is just a tad taller and wider than the diamond about one centimeter or less than half an inch – but no thicker than the diamond. The HTC Touch HD is nearly identical in size to the iPhone. The biggest advantage the HTC Touch HD has, is the significantly larger display. The Diamond has a 2.8” diagonal display but the Touch HD has a 4” diagonal display – that is approximately twice the real estate. This would make reading e-mails, checking your schedule, clicking on shortcuts, opening documents and browsing the web much better. Just as importantly, it would make typing on the screen significantly better.   In addition the HTC Touch HD includes an SD slot for additional data storage and a standard headphone jack on the top! The unit may ship in Europe starting in December so don’t expect to see this available in the US any time soon. The wvga screen is 800 x480 may not be optimized for Windows Mobile 6.1 but WM7 which is due for release shortly should take advantage of the additional resolution.
