| FTC Wins Legal Case Against Major Spamming Ring |

The Federal Trade Commission convinced a federal court in Chicago to freeze a large spam ring's assets and shut down the spam network.
The preliminary case went well on Tuesday for the F.T.C. against a significant source of spam. The spamming group known as HerbalKing sent billions of spam messages in the last 20 months. The spam ads included drugs, watches, etc. The HerbalKing spam group sent a significant portion of all spam received by unfortunate recipients. The spammers used botnets which were sending out the spam unbeknownst by the owners of the infected systems. The authorities are working with government agencies in New Zealand and Australia to bring charges and fines against members of the spam ring living in other countries.
